Jesus never gave Himself for our righteousness, but He did give Himself for our sins!
耶稣从未为我们的义舍己，却实实在在为我们的罪舍了自己！
Sin is a horrible evil, a deadly poison, yet it is this which gives Jesus His title of Savior when He overcomes it.
罪是可憎的恶，是致命的毒素，然而正是这罪，在祂胜过它的时候，使耶稣得着“救主”的尊名。
What a wonder this is!
这是何等奇妙的事！
The first link between my soul and Christ is- not my goodness, but my badness;

not my standing, but my falling;

not my riches, but my need.

He comes to visit His people,

yet not to admire their beauties, but to remove their deformities;
却不是欣赏他们的美丽，而是除去他们的丑陋；
not to reward their virtues, but to forgive their sins.

JESUS is nothing at all if He is not a SAVIOR.
若耶稣不是一位救主，祂就算不得什么。
He is anointed to this very end.
祂受膏正是为着这个目的。
His very Name is a sham if He does not SAVE His people from their sins.
若祂不能将自己的百姓从罪中拯救出来，祂的名本身就是虚假的。
This Jesus of Nazareth, the King of kings, and Lord of Lords, is the one and only Savior.
这位拿撒勒人耶稣，万王之王、万主之主，是独一无二的救主。
He, and none but He, shall save His people.
唯有祂，除祂以外别无他者，能拯救祂的百姓。
He, and not another, shall save them by His own act and deed.
唯有祂，而非别人，凭祂自己的作为和行动拯救他们。
Singly and unaided, He shall save His people.
祂独自一人、毫无外援地拯救祂的百姓。
Personally, and not by another, in His own Name, and on His own behalf,
祂亲自而非借他人之手，奉祂自己的名，为着祂自己的缘故，
He shall, by Himself, purge away His people’s sins.
祂要亲自除净祂百姓的罪。
He shall do ALL the work, and leave none of it undone;
祂要完成一切的工作，不留下一件未成之事；
He shall begin it, carry it on, and complete it;
祂要开始这工，继续这工，并完成这工；
and therefore is His Name called Jesus, Savior,
因此祂的名被称为耶稣，救主，
because He Shall Fully, Entirely, and Perfectly, Save His People from Their Sins!
因为祂要完全地、彻底地、并且完美地，将祂的百姓从罪中拯救出来！
Jesus Christ has come to seek and to save those who were lost.
耶稣基督来，为要寻找并拯救失丧的人。
If He does not save, He was born in vain,
若祂不施行拯救，祂的降生便是徒然，
for the object of His birth was the salvation of sinners.
因为祂降生的目的就是为要拯救罪人。
If He shall not be a Savior, then His mission in coming to this earth has missed its end,
若祂不是救主，那么祂来到世上的使命就失去了目标，
for its design was that lost sinners might be saved.
因为其设计正是要使失丧的罪人得救。
Lost one, lost one,
迷失的人哪，迷失的人哪，
if there were news that ‘an angel’ had come to save you,
若有消息说“有一位天使”来拯救你，
there might be some good cheer in it;
这或许已能带来一些安慰；
but there are better tidings still.
但还有更美的佳音。
God Himself has come!
上帝亲自来了！
The Infinite, the Almighty, has stooped from the highest heaven
那无限的、全能的上帝，从至高的天上俯就下来，
that He may pick you up, a poor undone and worthless worm!
为要将你拾起——一个贫穷、破败、毫无价值的虫！
