In Counterfeit Miracles, Warfield weighs in on the role of miracles in Jesus’ ministry and the place of spiritual gifts in the church.

In particular, he discusses speaking in tongues, prophecy, and healing, and outlines the relationship between the function and purpose of prayer in relation to the other gifts of the Spirit.

Dr. Warfield discriminates between miracles, properly so-called and Spiecial Providences, answers to prayer, etc., in that the former are wrought by an unmediated act of God, apart from processes, and are connected with revelation which, or the hearers of which, they are designed to authenticate and attest.
