Warfield stresses the fact that the only Jesus discoverable in the New Testament is a supernatural Jesus and over against those who commend a merely human Jesus he maintains that it is “the desupernaturalized Jesus which is the mythical Jesus, who never had any existence, the postulation of whose existence explains nothing and leaves the whole historical development hanging in the air.”
